Within the Framework of Joint Cooperation between the Palestinian Standards Institution (PSI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

A delegation from the Palestinian Standards Institution (PSI), headed by Dr. Haider Hujjah, Chief Executive Officer of the Institution, held a meeting today, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office in Palestine. The meeting addressed a number of areas of mutual interest, including:

Completing training requirements for Gulf accreditation, which will contribute to enhancing the recognition of certificates issued by PSI for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This will support Palestinian products in accessing new markets, particularly food products, dietary supplements, and cosmetics.

Localizing testing services through the provision of the necessary equipment to establish a laboratory for testing food contact materials and articles, as well as meeting the essential requirements for procurement, operation, and training. This initiative will enable manufacturers of food contact materials and articles to conduct the required tests to verify the compliance of their products used in food packaging and consumer food-related applications.

Setting priorities regarding regional and international agreements and identifying the necessary standards to expand international cooperation in a manner that facilitates the access of Palestinian products to Arab, regional, and international markets, while giving priority to traditional Palestinian products.

Ms. Ruba Al-Adham, Innovation and Local Solutions Promotion Officer at UNDP, expressed her confidence in the genuine partnership with PSI and her commitment to achieving the objectives pursued by UNDP through continuous cooperation and coordination in line with national priorities, identifying challenges, and developing appropriate solutions consistent with internationally recognized practices.

For her part, Ms. Nour Al-Hulta, Project Manager at UNDP, reviewed the identified needs and discussed updates to the cooperation plans based on the outcomes of the productive and detailed discussions held during the meeting.
